Our employers must be confused. Instead of valuing the sacrifices of thousands of nursing home heroes throughout the pandemic, they are refusing to give us the contracts we have earned a year and a half later.
We’ve been on the frontlines, showing up and caring for our residents, ensuring our nursing homes are clean, hygienic, and safe, and providing the care and comfort they need. Yet, we face immense pressure every day, brushing aside our fears and leaving behind our families.
We are proud of the work we do to care for the sick and vulnerable. We are clear that our nursing homes would not be able to run without us!
That’s why we’re taking action on Wednesday, November 17!
At the Together We Stand March and Rally (including Special Musical Guest Farmer Nappy), we’ll gather at 42nd St and Broadway at 3 p.m. and then march to 1199SEIU Headquarters at 498 Seventh Avenue to rally. Together, we’ll be demanding that the for-profit nursing home owners agree to fair contracts with good wages, affordable, comprehensive health benefits, and a guaranteed pension.
Special Guests:
New York State Attorney General Letitia “Tish” James
NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams
Special Musical Guest: Farmer Nappy
